Why Bandsintown Integrated Stream Chat Into Its New Live Stream Service, Bandsintown PLUS

Bandsintown, the music discovery platform with more than 60 million users, wanted to add feature-rich chat to its new live streaming concert product, Bandsintown PLUS. To meet the need for fast, scalable, reliable engagement in a live music setting, Bandsintown chose Stream’s Chat API and related SDKs rather than building chat in-house.

Stream helped Bandsintown integrate chat in about two and a half months using the Android Chat SDK and Chat UI Kit, with minor theming changes. The result is a high-performance live chat experience for concert broadcasts and artist Q&As, with 35–40% of viewers opting in and one Wallows livestream generating over 18,000 messages.
