Maurer & Scott prevents a fly rock disaster by flagging 20 of 25 holes with Strayos

The customer, Maurer & Scott, faced a significant challenge when a bench face at a Pennsylvania quarry slipped after drilling, creating a dangerous fly rock risk. Their client could not accurately measure the new burdens with traditional 2D methods. Maurer & Scott used Strayos' 3D Blast Profiling tools integrated with drone data to assess the situation.

Using Strayos, they quickly created a 3D profile of the face and integrated bore hole data to reveal that 20 of 25 holes had dangerously low burdens. This Strayos solution allowed them to identify the risk in a couple of hours, preventing a potential disaster that could have ejected rock from the quarry and damaged equipment below, ultimately ensuring operational safety and customer satisfaction.
