A StratusVue Case Study
Northwestern Medicine, a leading academic medical center in the Chicago area, required a reliable way to transfer construction asset data into operations after mandating BIM on all projects. On the new 3‑story, 60,000 sq ft Grayslake Medical Office Building they confronted a common problem: asset data handover was slow, error‑prone and often incomplete because information had to be manually re‑entered into their CMMS. NM also required that data be portable, retrievable through the BIM model, and easy for facilities staff to manage over time.
StratusVue partnered with NM and Pepper Construction to build BIMfx, which assigns unique Technical IDs to assets and creates dynamic URLs linking each asset to its documentation. The tool enables simple contractor data entry (using familiar spreadsheets), makes missing items visible during construction, and ports asset data directly into NM’s CMMS. On Grayslake the migration took about one hour, avoided manual re‑entry, made asset data accessible through the model, and delivered an estimated $100,000 in savings.
