Stratus Ftserver Keeps Düsseldorf’s Water Supply Running

Düsseldorf Water Authority, which supplies drinking water to more than 600,000 people from three waterworks, needed absolute, uninterrupted availability for its SCADA-controlled infrastructure (about 40,000 data points) to ensure continuous monitoring, legally required data archiving and fast fault detection—without introducing downtime, retraining staff or adding IT specialists.

The authority replaced two database servers and the central domain controller with Stratus ftServer fault-tolerant systems that duplicate components within a single machine, require no application changes and enable automatic hot-swap repairs. Since the 2011 deployment (two site servers and one domain controller) the ftServers have delivered continuous operation with no downtime, preserved existing Wonderware use and licensing, simplified administration and ensured secure, always-on data collection.
