Case Study: Supermarket Chain achieves PCI compliance and zero downtime with Stratus Technologies

A Stratus Technologies Case Study

Preview of the Supermarket Chain Case Study

Meeting PCI Compliance For A Mission-Critical Process With Stratus Services And ARI

A Northeastern U.S. supermarket chain was reclassified to PCI DSS Level 2 and given one year to achieve a perfect self-assessment score. The chain needed to harden and encrypt its existing mission‑critical EFT switching platform (which handled in-store card transactions) while avoiding any downtime, revenue loss, or heavy diversion of in‑house IT resources.

Stratus Professional Services performed a full assessment and delivered a phased plan using Stratus Continuum systems and VOS hardening, plus VOS‑Auditor from ARI for encryption, access control and auditing. Changes were rehearsed in the lab and at the disaster‑recovery site, rolled out overnight with no disruption to stores, and the project finished in eight months (four months ahead of schedule), meeting PCI requirements with minimal impact on staff.
