Littlepay Disrupts Transit Travel With Unified Payments Platform

Littlepay is a transit-focused fintech that set out to solve a growing gap in the market for fast, secure low-value contactless payments. With customers and merchants hesitant to adopt new payment methods and public transit historically slow to modernize, operators like Go-Ahead needed a way to reduce friction for riders and enable cashless, mobile-friendly fares — so they trialed littlepay’s solution in Oxford.

Littlepay delivered a loosely coupled, account-based platform that unifies open payments and ticketing (tap-on/tap-off, best-fare calculation, Apple/Android Pay support) and partnered with Stratus for bank-grade, PCI-compliant processing and operational monitoring. The Oxford trial succeeded and has expanded across Go-Ahead, First Group and other operators, improving speed, security and customer experience while proving a scalable model for wider UK and international rollout.
