A Stratus Technologies Case Study
Hangzhou Jiuxi Water Plant is the largest waterworks in Zhejiang Province (designed capacity 600,000 m3/d), operating 24/7 to deliver Class‑A quality water. The plant relied on a single physical server to run its critical SCADA system, which led to high CPU/memory load, accelerated hardware aging, slow response times and a single point of failure that increased the risk of unplanned downtime and data loss.
To address this, the plant deployed two Stratus ftServer 4800 systems (one for SCADA, one for the database) on a continuous‑availability, virtualized platform. The redundant, lockstep architecture protects in‑flight and committed data without application changes, while simplified management and customer‑replaceable components ease operations. Since deployment in August 2017, the solution has eliminated unplanned downtime, improved SCADA performance and data stability, reduced energy use and footprint, and lowered total cost of ownership.
