Flagship hospital uses Stratus everRun to achieve high availability of its laboratory testing system while reducing operational burden

Kyoto Okamoto Memorial Hospital, a regional flagship and disaster-base hospital in Northern Yamashiro, Kyoto, upgraded its in-house CLINILAN GL-2 laboratory testing system during a 2016 move to a new facility. After a prior high-availability cluster failure that caused three to four hours of downtime and manual recovery, the IS team sought to eliminate single points of failure, improve reliability for linked systems (EMR, ordering, claims), and reduce operational burden and cost.

Working with systems integrator SCSK, the hospital deployed Stratus everRun, a software-based high-availability solution that pairs two x86 servers to replicate applications and memory and provide automatic failover. Pre‑go-live testing and production use since May 2016 showed seamless failover with no data loss, simplified management from a single web interface, no need to change applications or add shared disks, and a notable reduction in operations and support effort.
