Einstein Bros. Bagels, the largest bagel bakery operator with over 795 locations, 5,000+ employees and $400M+ in revenue, was struggling with “spreadmart” reporting—accounting-generated, grid-based Excel reports that fragmented data and hindered timely decisions. The company wanted a single version of the truth, to consolidate reporting tools, move from spreadsheets to visual analytics, and give executives and field leaders mobile access to performance dashboards.
Smartbridge implemented the FoodOps BI accelerator with MicroStrategy, using an agile three-sprint approach to design, build and migrate mobile dashboards for executive, finance and regional teams. The team delivered store info, geographic performance and period-level financial reporting on time and under budget, launched a successful pilot with strong user feedback, drove demand for new features, and prompted strategic decisions to expand BI and make the company more information-driven.
