Sonic Automotive, a Fortune 500 auto retailer based in Charlotte with over 100 dealerships and 20 collision centers, needed 24/7 mobile access to daily business metrics for executives and regional managers. After investing in iPads and iPhones and a failed pilot with another provider, Sonic began evaluating partners in 2010 to build a repeatable mobile BI and reporting platform.
MicroStrategy conducted a Mobile QuickStrike and developed the FIRE iPad app, replacing Sonic’s prior mobile and Microsoft BI tools. The app delivers consolidated sales, service, finance, insurance and market scorecards used daily across 100+ dealerships in 26 markets, eliminating manual analysis and speeding reviews. Business impact included faster deployment, significant time savings for leadership, and a 38% increase in car product sales (from about $800–$900 to nearly $1,100 per car).
