NHS Forth Valley Hospital - Customer Case Study

NHS Forth Valley provides acute and community care for about 300,000 residents, employing around 7,000 staff and managing a £500m budget. During the winter of 2012 rising demand and more complex cases put severe pressure on bed capacity and the four-hour access target; prior ward-by-ward checks were slow, inefficient and quickly out of date, so the trust needed near real-time, system-wide visibility of capacity and flow.

MicroStrategy delivered an integrated dashboard in under six weeks that pulls data from existing systems, updates multiple times daily, and presents an at-a-glance traffic-light view plus trend analytics. With minimal training and about 40 users, the solution improved bed allocation, alerted staff to capacity issues, reduced reliance on manual checks, helped manage four-hour breaches and is now being expanded to support other access targets.
