Herbalife is a global nutrition company (net sales $2.7B in 2010) with roughly 2.1 million independent distributors in 75 countries. The company needed to give its global management team fast, mobile access to sales and distributor performance data so they could monitor trends, retention, and channel effectiveness in near real time—previously sales data was only refreshed every eight hours.

Herbalife built Herbalife Mobile Analytics using MicroStrategy Mobile in about a month, delivering iPad dashboards that visualize trends for over one million orders and track distributor and channel performance with data refreshed every 15 minutes. The app (five reports to start, new reports rolled out weekly) drove rapid executive adoption, allowed managers to make faster, better-informed decisions on promotions and operations, and paved the way for expanded metrics and transactional capabilities.
