AEGON Hungary, the local arm of the 150‑year AEGON Group serving about 1.5 million customers, faced a complex reporting landscape: 18 IT systems feeding 117 databases (9.2 TB), nearly 1 million calls and 300,000 claims annually. Reporting relied on manual Excel consolidation and static PowerPoint slides that took two weeks to prepare, so the company set goals to renovate its MIS, boost sales support, improve customer service and reduce claims costs—and began exploring mobile BI after seeing a MicroStrategy presentation.
Working with partner BiXPERT and MicroStrategy, AEGON built and rolled out an iPad reporting app in three months that replaced the two‑week manual process with interactive dashboards and drill‑downs to salesperson and product level. The mobile BI solution delivered a single version of the truth accessible on iPhone/iPad (Android planned), made board meetings decision‑focused rather than presentation‑focused, sped access to accurate data and spawned new BI projects for claims and sales support.
