The customer, Pringles, faced the challenge of launching its new Tortilla Chips and infiltrating a crowded $10 billion snack market. Their goal was to create a memorable campaign to differentiate the brand and capture the attention of a key target audience. The vendor, Strategic Objectives, was engaged to develop a PR and marketing solution to meet this challenge.
Strategic Objectives developed an irreverent campaign newsjacking the Toronto Mayoral Election, launching The Great #PringlesDIPbate. This real-time marketing initiative made "to dip or not to dip" tortilla chips a playful election issue through experiential events, influencer fiestas, and social media content. The results were significant, generating over 40 million impressions, 4.7 million YouTube views, and sales that beat forecasts. The campaign also won the Best Digital Campaign of the Year award from the Canadian Public Relations Society.
