Vulcan Custom Dental, a Birmingham-based milling and prosthetic planning center, needed to balance technician workloads, shorten turnaround for precision dental devices, and reduce costs while staying competitive. To solve these challenges, Vulcan Custom Dental adopted Stratasys 3D printing technology, deploying the Objet260 Dental Selection printer and using Stratasys MED610 biocompatible material to bring model and guide production in-house.

With the Stratasys solution, Vulcan eliminated lengthy outsourcing, producing accurate models, splints and surgical guides faster and with simpler post-processing thanks to soluble supports and reliable hardware. The Objet260 enabled up to four high-precision jobs per day with no reported downtime, allowed restorations in 24 hours (and sometimes same-day), and cut model production from 48 hours (traditional) to 6 hours—an 18-hour (75%) time savings versus a competitive 3D printer.
