A Stratasys Case Study
The University of Southern California's Formula SAE racing teams faced the challenge of designing and building a race car within a short time window and with limited resources. To accelerate development and overcome manufacturing constraints, they partnered with vendor Stratasys and utilized their FDM Nylon 12CF carbon-fiber material and ULTEM™ 1010 resin for 3D printing.
The solution implemented by Stratasys enabled rapid prototyping and the production of complex, high-performance parts. This resulted in a 700% increase in 3D printed components on the car year-over-year, drastically reducing manufacturing time. The teams reported that Stratasys's technology saved precious time and money, improved build quality, and provided unprecedented creative freedom in the design process.
