A Stratasys Case Study
The University of Notre Dame's IDEA Center Innovation Lab needed reliable 3D printing resources to help students turn ideas into products and launch new businesses. Their challenge was that consumer-grade printers, while initially affordable, required excessive maintenance and troubleshooting, wasting valuable staff time and resources. To overcome this, they turned to professional 3D printers from vendor Stratasys.
By implementing Stratasys's professional F123 Series printers, including the F370 and the large-format F770, the lab achieved immense gains in reliability and efficiency. The solution from Stratasys eliminated the constant troubleshooting associated with lower-grade machines, freeing up staff time and ensuring high-quality prints. This reliable toolset allowed students to successfully execute large projects, such as producing 150 parts for a skateboard business in a single weekend print, and helped the IDEA Center fuel innovation, launching 30 new startup businesses in 2020.
