A Stratasys Case Study
Trek Bicycle, a leading cycling company, needed to create prototypes that accurately mimicked the look and feel of final production parts for rigorous testing. To achieve this, they turned to vendor Stratasys and implemented their Objet500 Connex3 3D printer, which utilizes PolyJet technology.
The Stratasys solution enabled Trek to print multi-material prototypes in a single job, combining rigid Digital ABS with soft, rubber-like components. This resulted in highly realistic and durable prototypes, such as handlebar grips and light fixtures, that could withstand functional testing. The technology also allowed for the creation of color-coded communication tools, like pressure maps for bike seats, to aid in design decisions. This improved prototyping capability provided Trek with the best tools to continually innovate and improve their bicycles.
