A Stratasys Case Study
Technion | Israel Institute of Technology’s biorobotics and biomechanics lab (BRML) needed to rapidly produce structurally complex, durable parts to prototype hyper‑redundant robots for search-and-rescue and medical applications. The team required multi‑material builds (rigid casings with rubber‑like coatings) that could withstand real‑world functional testing, be produced quickly and at low cost, so they selected the Stratasys Objet350 Connex 3D Printer using PolyJet technology.
Using the Stratasys Objet350 Connex, BRML printed multi‑material, overmolded components in a single build, enabling fully functional prototypes in a matter of days. The solution delivered impact‑resistant, accurate models, reduced response time for modifications, lowered costs, and accelerated research throughput—allowing more concepts to be tested sooner, catching design issues earlier and supporting promoted research and patents.
