Stratasys Neo800 provides 3D printed lens prototypes for the automotive industry

One3D, a Czech Republic service bureau serving automotive lighting suppliers such as HELLA, Varroc and MSV Elektronika, needed a faster, more cost‑effective way to produce high‑clarity lens prototypes and support rapid design iterations. Traditional milled PMMA lenses had long lead times (3–4 weeks) and high costs, so One3D turned to Stratasys and its Neo800 stereolithography technology to meet the demand for intricate, transparent prototype parts.

Using the Stratasys Neo800 and Somos® WaterClear Ultra 10122 resin, One3D produced large, single‑piece lens prototypes with superior optical clarity, reducing lead times to 3–4 working days versus weeks for PMMA and requiring only about six hours of post‑processing. The Neo800’s top‑down build and 800×800×600 mm platform eliminated cuts and gluing, lowered per‑piece costs for small series, sped design iterations, and positioned One3D as a leader in automotive lighting prototyping with measurable time and cost savings thanks to Stratasys.
