A Stratasys Case Study

Preview of the Sodimas Case Study

Sodimas Designs High-end Elevators With 3D Printing

Sodimas, a specialist in high-end, highly customized elevators, faced long lead times and the need for rapid design validation, assembly aids and lightweight demonstration models to support innovation and customer education. To address these challenges the company turned to Stratasys and its FDM 3D printing solutions, using Stratasys 3D printers as part of their prototyping and production workflow.

Stratasys supplied FDM printing for functional prototypes, custom assembly jigs (often printed in ULTEM 1010) and lightweight sales/teaching models, enabling Sodimas to validate parts in hours instead of waiting about 15 days for metal components, reduce assembly placement to just seconds with custom jigs, and create portable training models. By adopting Stratasys technology Sodimas is also moving toward a digital parts library to cut spare‑parts inventory and lower warehouse expenses.
