Slicelab prints custom snowboard bindings in under 14 hours with Stratasys

Slicelab, a design studio focused on snowboarding equipment, faced the challenge of creating a custom, high-performance snowboard binding component that was impossible to manufacture using traditional injection molding. They needed a solution that could produce a part with a complex internal lattice structure for variable flexibility, withstand extreme impacts, and be completed on a very tight timeline. They partnered with vendor Stratasys and utilized their Origin One 3D printer and Henkel Loctite IND 3172 material to tackle this challenge.

The solution implemented by Stratasys was printing the part on the Origin One using Programmable PhotoPolymerization (P3) technology, which handled the design's significant overhangs and bridges with a single support. The result was a fully functional, customized high back printed in under 14 hours that performed perfectly in field tests. The project was financially comparable to injection molding while offering substantial benefits, including conserving 57.96 grams of material and eliminating all shipping time and costs by enabling local production.
