The customer, SJD Hospital, faced a challenge in 3D printing models with intricate internal channels and cavities. Their existing process using traditional, non-soluble support material was insufficient, as the support could not be washed out with a waterjet, making these complex geometries impossible to clean and therefore unobtainable. This limited their ability to produce certain essential medical models.

Stratasys provided a solution using their WSS™150 water-soluble support material. This allowed the hospital to simply submerge the 3D-printed parts in tap water, enabling hands-free support removal without any risk of damaging the delicate models.
