SJD Hospital saves 287 hours a year with Stratasys

The customer, SJD Hospital, faced a significant challenge in its quality assurance process for new 3D printing materials. The manual measurement of thousands of tensile test dogbone samples was a punishingly slow and time-consuming task for its operators, creating a bottleneck that delayed critical data for Stratasys' R&D teams.

Stratasys engineered a solution by designing and 3D printing an automatic measuring machine, the AutoMeasure, using its own H350 printer and SAF™ PA12 material. This innovation fully automated the measurement process, saving an estimated 287 hours of operator time per year and an annual saving of nearly $4,500. The machine paid for itself in 69 days and also improved measurement accuracy and repeatability, allowing operators to focus on more critical tasks.
