SAF Technology Expands Frontiers for Fast Prototyping and Parts Production

3D Composites, an ISO-certified additive manufacturing provider in Arlington, Washington, had long served the aerospace industry with FDM, CNC machining, and vacuum thermoforming, but wanted a faster, lower-cost alternative for customized parts and production runs. The company was looking to expand beyond its existing methods and into new markets while maintaining the accuracy and compliance its customers expect.

Stratasys helped 3D Composites add SAF technology with the H350 3D printer and PA12 material, supported by GrabCAD Print Pro software and on-site startup assistance. The new process enabled high-volume production with less post-processing, reduced lead times from weeks to days, and cut costs dramatically—about 50% per part for one automotive customer and roughly four-fold overall for a transportation application.
