Radford Motors builds 62-unit Lotus Type 62-2 with Stratasys

Radford Motors, a builder of exclusive luxury automobiles, faced the challenge of prototyping and producing highly customized, low-volume vehicles without the economies of scale offered by conventional mass manufacturing. Their business model made traditional methods like CNC machining and full factory tooling too costly and slow. They turned to vendor Stratasys for a solution using large-format 3D printing.

The solution implemented by Stratasys involved using their F770 and F900 3D printers with strong, lightweight thermoplastics like ABS-CF10 and ASA. This enabled Radford Motors to design, iterate, and build necessary tooling and components much faster and more economically.
