A Stratasys Case Study
Queensborough Community College (QCC) faced the challenge of using a grant to establish a world-class 3D printing lab that would connect its academic programs with local businesses and accelerate economic development. Their goal was to equip the lab with sophisticated, non-obsolete 3D printing technology from vendor Stratasys to produce high-quality, functional parts and attract business collaboration.
The solution implemented involved deploying Stratasys 3D printers, specifically a Fortus 450mc and a J750, which provided complementary FDM and PolyJet technologies. This allowed students to create rugged, functional prototypes and high-resolution models. The results were significant; QCC launched over 100 student projects providing real-world solutions, fostered working relationships with potential employers, and gave students hands-on experience that directly transfers to career paths. The Stratasys technology ensured the lab remained state-of-the-art, maximizing the impact of the college's budget.
