Premium Transmission Ltd., part of the Tharpar Group, is an Indian maker of gearboxes, geared motors and other power-transmission components serving global engineering markets. Faced with increasingly complex designs, costly and time-consuming traditional prototyping, and confidentiality concerns with outsourcing, Premium turned to Stratasys and its FDM® Technology to accelerate design cycles and improve process efficiency.

By adopting Stratasys FDM® Technology for in‑house 3D printing, Premium produced complete modular assemblies from CAD in a single run, reducing prototyping lead time from about 42 days to 4–5 days and cutting cost per prototype from USD 1,000 to USD 250 — roughly a $750 (75%) cost saving and ~40 days (90%) faster per iteration. The Stratasys solution enabled rapid design iteration, better form/fit/function testing, preserved confidentiality and helped Premium bring more innovative products to market faster.
