PolyJet Technology Opens New Doors for Surgical Implant 3D

Surgical Implant 3D, a dental implant specialist, faced poor-fitting outsourced surgical guides and long lead times because suppliers used SLA printing with 150‑micron layers that didn’t match the company’s 5‑micron optical scans. To solve this, they partnered with Stratasys and adopted Stratasys PolyJet™ 3D printing (working initially with SMOP providers) to achieve the higher resolution and accuracy required for precise surgical guides.

Stratasys’ PolyJet solution—later brought in-house on an Objet Eden260VS Dental Advantage™ printer—reduced time to first prototypes from three weeks to 48 hours (10× faster), cut the cost for six implants from €600–700 to €238 (~€362 savings, ~60%), and produced better‑fitting guides that improved surgical accuracy. Bringing Stratasys PolyJet technology in-house also enabled Surgical Implant 3D to launch a 3D printing dental service, targeting 200–400 new clients and a projected €1–1.2M turnover.
