Plyform Composites s.r.l Uses 3D Printing to Raise the Bar for Aerospace Production

Plyform Composites, based in Varallo Pombia, Italy, is a leading supplier of aerostructures that needed to cut lead times and tooling costs without sacrificing the high quality required for aerospace components. To meet these challenges the company evaluated industrial additive solutions and turned to Stratasys, adopting the production-grade Stratasys F900 3D printer to support its composite manufacturing and tooling needs.

Stratasys’ F900 FDM technology (using materials such as ST-130 soluble cores and ULTEM™ 9085 resin) enabled Plyform Composites to 3D print composite tools and flight‑ready parts, shrinking tool production from roughly eight hours to 2.5 hours, reducing tooling costs by about 80% and delivering an estimated 30% improvement in part quality. As a result, Plyform now uses the Stratasys F900 across its production to speed delivery, meet aerospace FST requirements, produce more complex geometries, and expand low‑volume, on‑demand services.
