Peugeot Group modernizes electric vehicle interiors with Stratasys 3DFashion and 100% recycled polyester

The Advanced Design Team at Peugeot Group faced the challenge of modernizing the interior of its Inception Concept car. They wanted to incorporate a seamless, thick velvet material with 3D patterns into the seating and floor mat without using a protective overlay, which was not achievable with traditional embellishment methods. To accomplish this, they turned to vendor Stratasys and its 3DFashion™ technology and J850 TechStyle 3D printer.

Stratasys provided a solution by enabling direct-to-textile 3D printing onto the flexible velvet material. This allowed Peugeot to create stunning, semi-transparent 3D ‘micro-architectures’ with a level of resolution and thickness that was previously impossible. The results included a unique coalescence of functionality, texture, and aesthetics. The solution also offered durability, efficiency, and the revolutionary ability to easily modify and reprint files without the need for molds.
