Orange County Choppers cuts custom motorcycle part lead time with Stratasys 3D printing

Orange County Choppers (OCC), a builder of custom motorcycles, faced the challenge of producing intricate, one-off parts. Their traditional methods of machining parts from aluminum billets or high-density foam were time-consuming, costly, and often resulted in heavy components, limiting their design freedom for themed bikes.

Stratasys provided a solution through the use of their Fortus 400mc 3D Production System. This allowed OCC to directly print complex designs from digital models without tooling or extensive operator supervision. The results included substantially reduced part weight, faster production times, lower costs, and the ability to create highly detailed components that were previously impractical, as demonstrated on their custom dragon-themed motorcycle.
