Case Study: Omega Tool Corp improves paint masking speed and durability with Stratasys F3300 and ULTEM™ 9085 resin

A Stratasys Case Study

Preview of the Omega Tool Corp Case Study

Omega Tool Corp creates reusable paint masks that withstand 200-265°F heat with Stratasys

Omega Tool Corp, a plastics engineering and tooling company, sought a more effective solution for creating paint masks that could withstand the high temperatures of its paint line for repeated use. Their challenge was that typical masking solutions lacked the necessary temperature capabilities or were too costly and time-consuming to develop. They partnered with vendor Stratasys to find a more efficient alternative.

The solution implemented by Stratasys was to 3D print the masks using ULTEM™ 9085 resin on the Stratasys F3300 production system. This resulted in masks with no warpage or deformation after repeated use, minimal dimensional change within design limits, and effective coverage with no paint contamination. The measurable impacts included faster production speeds due to the printer's capabilities and greater design freedom for complex shapes, establishing it as an effective solution for Omega Tool Corp.
