A Stratasys Case Study
Omega Tool Corp, a global leader in injection mold production, faced a challenge with its paint line efficiency. Their traditional machined metal fixtures were heavy, costly, and inflexible, leading to a large and inefficient tooling inventory. To address this, the company turned to vendor Stratasys for a solution involving their F3300 industrial 3D printer and ULTEM™ 9085 resin.
Stratasys provided a solution incorporating 3D printed components, which enabled a modular and reconfigurable fixture design. The high-strength, heat-resistant parts successfully supported 30 lb components through the paint process with no deformation. This resulted in reduced fixture weight, improved production flexibility, and a significant reduction in the required inventory of paint fixtures for Omega Tool Corp.
