Case Study: Novel Acoustics achieves enhanced speaker acoustics with Stratasys Neo 3D printing

A Stratasys Case Study

Preview of the Novel Acoustics Ltd Case Study

Novel Acoustics 3D-printed concept speaker designed by Boaz Dekel with Stratasys Stereolithography technology

Novel Acoustics Ltd, led by co-founder Boaz Dekel, set out to create a high-fidelity concept speaker that could overcome the usual tradeoffs between acoustical performance, structural rigidity, and manufacturing complexity. To support this challenge, the company worked with Stratasys and its Neo stereolithography 3D printing technology, aiming to prototype large functional parts while improving speaker design performance.

Stratasys’ Neo800 3D printer enabled Novel Acoustics to produce the speaker enclosure as a single, monolithic piece with complex internal lattice geometry, using Somos WaterShed resin and Somos PerFORM material for added rigidity and stability. The result was a highly accurate, seamless speaker structure that reduced rattling, leaks, resonances, and distortion while improving acoustic consistency and design flexibility, demonstrating how Stratasys 3D printing can accelerate innovation in audio product development.
