Northstar Manufacturing Company, a fabricator of suspension adjustment parts sold to retailers and repair shops, faced long lead times and costly outsourced prototyping to produce precise camber/caster and toe adjustment tools. To overcome delays and the inability to iterate on appearance and fit, Northstar turned to Stratasys and its Dimension 3D Printer (Dimension SST 1200es) to bring prototyping and tool production in-house.

Stratasys’ Dimension 3D Printer enabled Northstar to print functional prototypes, check fixtures and even threaded moving parts for same-day testing, allowing designers to refine measurements down to millimeters and send physical fixtures to overseas factories. The result: design/build cycles that once took three to four months are now completed in a few days, improved product fit and appearance, faster overseas communication, and more efficient production enabled by Stratasys’ solution.
