NCSU Students Give Character To Designs With Dimension 3d Printer

North Carolina State University challenged its Industrial Design students to create detailed, poseable action figures as part of an advanced digital modeling course. To meet strict size, functionality and iteration requirements without outsourcing, the students used Stratasys’ Dimension 3D Printer (with Catalyst software) to prototype six-inch, highly detailed figures in-house.

Stratasys’ Dimension solution enabled rapid, cost‑effective, iterative prototyping that eliminated service‑bureau lead times and extra production costs. Using the Dimension 3D Printer, students produced functioning poseable figures and refined designs more quickly, with faculty reporting significant time savings and improved ability to evaluate and correct design issues during development.
