NASCAR ships 650 3D-printed ventilation parts with Stratasys in 6 months

NASCAR, an American auto racing association, faced a challenge with extreme heat in the cockpit of its new Next Gen race cars, creating uncomfortable and unsafe conditions for drivers. They presented this challenge to vendor Stratasys, specifically its Stratasys Direct Manufacturing service, to find a solution that would cool the interior without modifying the car's design and at a competitive cost for high-volume production.

The solution implemented by Stratasys utilized SAF technology on the H350 3D printer with High Yield PA11 material to produce durable air ventilation ducts. Stratasys Direct Manufacturing printed and shipped 650 parts, which reduced cockpit temperatures for drivers without impacting the car's aerodynamics. The ventilation units were successfully adopted by every team in the NASCAR Cup Series for the 2022 season.
