A Stratasys Case Study
Moog Aircraft Group, a world leader in manufacturing solutions for high-performance aircraft, faced significant costs and long lead times of four to six weeks by outsourcing its CMM inspection fixtures. To improve internal capabilities and reduce expenditure, the company sought an in-house solution and chose to partner with Stratasys, implementing a Fortus 380mc 3D printer using FDM technology and ASA ivory material.
The solution from Stratasys enabled Moog to insource fixture production, dramatically cutting lead times to approximately 20 hours per fixture and reducing costs from over £2,000 to just a few hundred pounds each. This allowed Moog to prioritize production based on customer demand and improved work holding throughout its processes. The Stratasys system, running nearly 24/7, also provided efficiency gains with automated, hands-free support removal.
