A Stratasys Case Study
Mikkelsen Electronics, a company that develops customized cable and molding solutions, faced the challenge of reducing production time and cost while offering affordable prototypes. To address this, they turned to vendor Stratasys and invested in FDM technology and a Fortus 3D printer to create precise, heat-resistant molds.
The solution implemented by Stratasys involved 3D printing low-pressure molds using ULTEM resin and ABS thermoplastic, which are cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional aluminum molds. This allowed Mikkelsen to accelerate its workflow, reduce overall production costs, and produce fully operational parts. As a result, Mikkelsen gained greater credibility, is now considered a more serious market player, and has paved the way for acquiring new customers.
