Kohler speeds product development with 3D printing

Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath products, faced slow, costly prototyping for complex designs like the Numi smart toilet—dozens of sensors and 600+ components meant even small changes triggered lengthy redesigns and outsourced CNC machining delayed product launches. To speed development, Kohler’s Asia‑Pacific R&D team brought in Stratasys 3D printing, installing two systems: the F900 and the Objet500 Connex3.

Using Stratasys’ F900 for large, functional parts (ABS‑M30, FDM Nylon 12) and the Objet500 Connex3 with VeroClear for multi‑material, transparent concept models, Kohler cut prototype turnaround from about a week to three days, reduced prototyping time by more than 40% and lowered costs roughly 50%. Stratasys printers also enable pilot production parts and on‑demand replacement components, helping Kohler accelerate design verification and meet delivery schedules.
