A Stratasys Case Study
J.W. Speaker, a long-established manufacturer of high-performance automotive and powersports lighting, needed a watertight leak-test fixture for a snowmobile light that could withstand a 100‑pound force. Traditional aluminum CNC-machined fixtures met the strength requirement but were slow to produce, so the company worked with Stratasys to explore faster tooling using additive manufacturing (FDM Nylon-CF10 material on the F370CR composite printer).
Stratasys helped J.W. Speaker 3D print the leak-check fixture in FDM Nylon-CF10 on the F370CR, producing a much stiffer, stronger tool suited to the test. The switch to Stratasys 3D printing cut tool production time by about 80% (from two days to roughly 10 hours) and delivered greater design freedom and agility, enabling quicker implementation of design changes and faster deployment into production.
