A Stratasys Case Study
University Hospital of Southern Denmark, Esbjerg faced growing demand for patient-specific 3D anatomical models and surgical guides that their previous third‑party workflow and single‑material SLA printing could not meet cost‑effectively or quickly. To support presurgical planning, research and iterative model development in-house, the hospital’s 3D Lab Denmark adopted the Stratasys J5 MediJet as its advanced medical 3D printer.
Using the Stratasys J5 MediJet, the lab now produces multi‑material, full‑color, biocompatible and sterilizable models and guides with varied elasticity and fine surface detail; over 1,000 3D parts have been produced and requests now come from oral/maxillofacial surgery, orthopedics and ENT. Stratasys’ solution has enabled broader point‑of‑care planning, patient education and research (including studies on shoulder arthroplasty guides), and clinicians report growing reliance on 3D‑printed guides—supporting Stratasys’ claims of reduced complications, shorter operation times and shorter hospital stays.
