Italdesign uses the J750 to 3D print marble-effect interior parts for DaVinci concept car

Italdesign Giugiaro Barcelona, the R&D arm of Italdesign, needed to produce ultra‑realistic marble‑effect interior parts for the 2019 DaVinci concept car on a tight schedule for the Geneva Motor Show. Already a long‑time user of Stratasys PolyJet and FDM technology, the team worked with Stratasys partner Comher to acquire a Stratasys J Series full‑color, multimaterial 3D printer to achieve the visual and tactile marble effects that traditional stonemasonry could not deliver in time.

Using the Stratasys J Series (with CAD/render overlays and printing via GrabCAD Print), Italdesign 3D‑printed four air‑conditioning diffusers, two door inlays and the central console in just over a weekend rather than the several weeks required by conventional methods. The Stratasys solution provided high resolution, consistent repeatability with no additional design iterations, enabling on‑time validation at headquarters and unlocking new ultra‑realistic prototyping possibilities for future designs.
