Italdesign uses Stratasys 3DFashion to create a 4-person Climb-E concept space

Italdesign, an automotive design company part of the Volkswagen Group, faced the challenge of creating a new mobility concept called Climb-E. They needed to design an interior that transcended traditional automotive, domestic, and office spaces to create a seamless, multi-functional environment. To achieve this, they turned to Stratasys and its innovative 3DFashion technology to reimagine materials and enable new design possibilities.

The solution from Stratasys involved using its 3DFashion technology to 3D print directly onto fabrics like Alcantara within the Climb-E capsule. This allowed Italdesign's designers to create unique graphics and combine transparencies with special chromatic effects, conveying a sense of both real and virtual color. The results were a highly customized interior that successfully blended automotive design with fashion, opening new potential for prototyping and future consumer customization in the automotive industry.
