i-Tork Controls, a manufacturer of electric and pneumatic actuators, faced a lengthy and inefficient prototyping process using traditional CNC machining. To accelerate development and maintain confidentiality, they sought an additive manufacturing solution. After an entry-level 3D printer failed to meet expectations, they turned to vendor Stratasys and its Objet30 Pro 3D printer using PolyJet technology.

The solution from Stratasys utilized VeroClear material to create transparent prototypes, allowing i-Tork's engineers to visualize internal components without destroying the model. The Stratasys Objet30 Pro significantly improved efficiency, reducing prototyping time from one month to one week and slashing the cost of a gearbox prototype from approximately $1,240 to a maximum of $330. The high success rate also saved materials and labor, providing substantial overall savings.
