How Stratasys 3DFashion™ Technology is Enabling Atelier des Refusés to Transform Textile Scraps into Show-Stopping Cushions

Atelier des Refusés, a Milan-based creator of hand-crafted decorative cushions that repurposes high-quality textile offcuts, needed to launch its new "Biodiversity" collection: a cohesive series of visually striking cushions in which no two pieces were alike, while keeping sustainability and seamless integration with its artisanal production. To get the color range, textural detail and one-off customization required, the company turned to Stratasys and its 3DFashion capabilities (J850 TechStyle).

Stratasys’ J850 TechStyle, powered by the 3DFashion platform, delivered direct-to-textile 3D printing in up to 600,000 colors with varied transparencies and textures, enabling Atelier des Refusés to add bespoke 3D-printed embellishments to discarded fabrics and produce a 16-piece Biodiversity collection. The outcome was show-stopping, one-of-a-kind cushions that reduced waste compared with traditional embellishment methods, debuted at Milan Design Week 2023, and were selected for display in Breitling’s Milan flagship — concrete proof of the creative and commercial impact enabled by Stratasys.
