Hong Kong Polytechnic University Uses 3D Printing to Improve Eye Orbital Implant Surgery

Hong Kong Polytechnic University, working with Stratasys, needed a better way to support hands-on technical training and help students understand complex engineering concepts through practical application. The institute was looking for a 3D printing system that could fit curriculum reform and strengthen learning in mechanical design, engineering, and electronics.

Stratasys implemented two Stratasys FDM® 3D Printers, enabling students to create and test physical models for robotics, manufacturing, and design validation. The solution helped speed up prototyping dramatically, cutting model production time from two to three days to just six to seven hours, while also supporting business collaborations with local companies and giving students valuable experience with advanced manufacturing technology.
