Honda Access Shifts its Customization Options into High Gear with 3D Printing

Honda Access Co. Ltd., a Tokyo‑based subsidiary of the Honda Group that makes and tailors hundreds of accessories for global markets, faced slow, costly prototyping from reliance on CNC machining and outsourced services. To speed customization and better align accessory development with regional vehicle launches, Honda Access adopted Stratasys 3D printing—specifically the Objet Eden500V 3D Printer.

Stratasys supplied the Objet Eden500V and ongoing support, allowing Honda Access to produce accurate, detailed in‑house prototypes (including wheels up to 14 inches) using Vero materials for near‑final finishes. The change eliminated many CNC bottlenecks, improved design iteration and synchronization with vehicle schedules, and reduced service delays—Stratasys now conducts weekly 30‑minute checkups instead of multi‑day dispatches—resulting in faster, higher‑quality accessory development.
