Grant Helps Queensborough Community College Get World-Class 3D Printing Lab

Queensborough Community College (QCC) needed to build a world-class 3D printing lab that could prepare students for industry and host collaborative projects with local businesses after receiving a $1.5 million CUNY 2020 grant. To meet requirements for durable, high-heat functional parts and ultra-realistic, full-color models, QCC selected Stratasys systems—including the Fortus 450mc (FDM) and the Stratasys J750 (PolyJet)—to provide state-of-the-art, evergreen 3D printing capabilities.

Stratasys installed those platforms, enabling QCC students and partners to complete more than 100 real-world projects—from anatomical models and custom surgical tools to production-grade prototypes and a 3D-printed bionic hand—and to win recognition such as the CUNY/Capital One Innovation Challenge. The Stratasys solution delivered measurable impact in hands-on workforce training, stronger industry partnerships, accelerated prototyping, and expanded career pathways for students.
